Ice Hockey

Nearie’s pond is frozen; neighbours have put a Xmas tree with lights on the jetty. One evening we were there and a guy had cleared a patch of snow from the ice; he had a goalie net and was practising ice hockey. We had our dog’s tennis ball, so he hit it far out for her to fetch, he’ s wife was pulling their baby on a sled across the ice. Fortunately we had the camera and took photos. We have since walked right around the pond on the ice.

I was amazed at the Xmas decorated houses, which I found even more amazing than Calgary. People put their decorated trees in front of the windows, so that you can also see them trough the window. We took photographs of Nativity scenes, Reindeer sleds, Santa’s and with lights wherever you look. Town is also very nicely decorated, the best being bare trees filled with lights.

We are so glad we didn’t buy a house in town, they are close together with walls of snow around them, as they have nowhere to go with the snow, the snow ploughs also dump snow on their driveways and sidewalks.

We went to Flat rock again. Plus 1 C plus wind-chill. We walked on the rocks, which were slippery because of ice and moss. We also went to Topsail beach and took photos of frozen rocks and Beachy cove, with a frozen waterfall.
We visited Antique shops, which besides nice furniture, sells old post-cards, old photographs, Xmas cards, small packets of old Newfoundland stamps (about $1 each!) and even old appliance manuals, which I wouldn’t mind for my albums, but not for the price.
My parents have had someone scan about 40 family photographs for me, which they will send to me.

Kris loves the snow; she chases the snow blower and jumps for snowballs.
