Nakusp village.

We spent three nights at the Nakusp municipal campground after disembarking from the Upper Arrow Lake ferry. You may read about our previous camp there here. With firepits, spacious, spotless hot showers, free Wi-Fi near the restrooms, a sani dump, firewood for sale, and fresh water, we wholeheartedly recommend Nakusp Municipal Campground. In addition to offering plenty of shade and being pet-friendly, the campground is conveniently located near the town centre, promenade, and public beach. The off-leash dog park is adjacent to RV Site 12A, where we set up camp.

"Our village is a vibrant, safe and friendly lakeshore community nestled on the shores of Upper Arrow Lake in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. The beautiful Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges, natural and developed hot springs and the historic Arrow Lakes surround us."- The village of Nakusp

The Nakusp Waterfront Walkway is a paved pathway extending one kilometre (3280 ft) along the top of a steep embankment above Arrow Lake in Nakusp, British Columbia. This historic place includes the walkway, memorial benches, trees and gardens and an engineered soil/cement wall extending from the walkway to the lake.” – Historical Places.

“You haven’t really seen Nakusp if you don’t take time to stroll down the waterfront promenade and take in the views across the Upper Arrow Lake towards Saddleback Mountain.” – Arrow Lake News.
“Anchored by the Nakusp Marina and Nakusp Beach, this paved level stroll takes you past the Spicer Garden, the Japanese Garden and the historic Leland Hotel, the oldest continually-operating hotel in B.C.” -Arrow Lake News.

There were many beautifully kept gardens and houses.

We found the town very friendly and clean, with beautiful, well-kept gardens. We got maps and travel brochures from the friendly information centre.

At the Three Lions Social House / Chumley’s Restaurant in Nakusp, I enjoyed a nice beer, a tasty beef burger, fried onion rings, and salad. The fish and chips, which were delicious, were eaten by my husband. Because The Pub welcomes pets, Erik was permitted to sit on the patio.

“Nakusp’s settlement history begins in 1892 when the town site was put up for sale by the Rand Bros. – 25’ lots sold for as much as $300 each. Speculation was that Nakusp would become a mining town.” – The Village of Nakusp "The Nakusp Marina provides moorages for annual slip holders and some slips available for day or weekly rentals.   Annual slips are currently full; however, if you want to put your name on our waitlist, please fill out the form below or contact the Village Office." - Nakusp "The Village of Nakusp (/nəˈkʌsp/)[3] is located south of the mouth of Kuskanax Creek, on the Upper Arrow Lake in the West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Lying between the Selkirk and Monashee ranges, the village is known for its nearby hot springs and picturesque mountain lakeside setting."- Wikipedia

Me at Saddle Mountain lookout.

We drove to Nakusp hot springs and stopped at Gardner Creek.

"Look for a pullout partway up the road on the left side for Gardner Waterfalls. It's a bit tricky to spot it on the opposite side of the road until after you've passed it the turn. I suggest making a note of the location and stop when coming downhill when it is on the same side of the road as you will be driving and it is easier to spot the entrance. You can scramble along the rocks to get right to the base and a small shallow pool good for dipping your feet in." -Ramblyn Jazz.

We had coffee and an amazing Hoss n'egger at Hoss & Jill's Bistro
