Kootenay Rockies.

We took a road trip to the Kootenay Rockies of British Columbia, Canada.
The photo was taken through the car's windscreen.

We left Calgary, Alberta, Canada on a clear day.
We drove via Banff through Radium Hot Springs Village.
The photo was taken through the car's windscreen.

"Giant snow-covered peaks, thunderous waterfalls, and crystal clear rivers and lakes characterize this mountain playground in southeastern British Columbia." - Hello B.C.

It was our first stay at Dry Gulch Provincial Park. The staff was friendly and helpfull, the campsite was quiet and well-kept.

View outside, the photo was taken through our camper's window.

"This cozy campground park is a quiet and shady retreat from a sunny and vibrant tourism area. Located on the east side of the Rocky Mountain Trench under the peaks of the Stanford Range, Dry Gulch Park is 4.5km south of the town of Radium Hot Springs off Highway 93/95. It is a perfect resting place for travellers." -B.C, Parks

"Dry Gulch is situated at the foot of Redstreak Mountain on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountain Trench, shadowed by the peaks of the Stanford Range. Dry Gulch is often used as an overflow campground for the popular Kootenay National Park nearby."- Hello B.C.

"Lussier Hot Springs is one of British Columbia's most beautiful and serene hot spring destinations located between Canal Flats and Whiteswan Lake in the East Kootenays of south eastern BC. The four hot spring pools have been naturally constructed right beside Lussier River using stones and boulders and are easily accessible via Whiteswan Forestry Road"- Lussier Hot Springs

I felt like Goldilocks, I found the hot pool too hot and the river too chilly, but I relaxed on the rocks, while others turned red like lobsters.
Erik didn't like the smell of the water ☺️

The hot pool had beautiful clear water.

Hoodoos on the way to Radium, the photos were taken through the car's window.

  "

These hoodoos are located in the Columbia Valley, less than half an hour from Radium hot springs. They are located right by the Highway BC 93/95, a few kilometers South of Fairmont Hot Springs, or North of the Columbia Lake. You just need to turn off the highway onto Westside road, and there is a car park at the trailhead."- A Walk and a Lark

We tried to find Bugaboo Provincial Park but our maps and G.P.S. didn't want to cooperate. Lesson learnt, use better maps. We did however find some Guineafowl and a turkey.

"Guineafowl (/ˈɡɪnifaʊl/; sometimes called "pet speckled hens" or "original fowl") are birds of the family Numididae in the order Galliformes. They are endemic to Africa and rank among the oldest of the gallinaceous birds." Wikipedia

This Turkey was very upset with us.

It was the first time in Erik's life that he has seen a turkey up close.

 Kootenay Lake coming soon.
