The Road Home.

Three Valley Lake Chateau.

"Nestled between the clear waters of Three Valley Lake and sheer cliffs of the Monashee Mountains, Three Valley Lake Chateau is an extraordinary Revelstoke resort destination."

Snow shed on the Trans-Canada Highway.

“Snow sheds are designed to withstand the incredible forces involved with vast amounts of sliding snow, however they’re not meant to stop it. Instead, the sheds deflect the snow, allowing it to pass over top while traffic continues to flow underneath.” – Avalanche Safety – Shedding Light on the Snow Shed

“Travelling through Rogers Pass requires you to go through five long tunnels, which add a measure of protection from avalanches, although they can be a bit unnerving the first time. The lofty sensation of crossing Rogers Pass is one of the rewards for travelling here.” – Rogers Pass

After we left Shuswap Lake  we headed home.

Driving inside the Snow shed.

One can see the next tunnel ahead.

Park Bridge (Kicking Horse Canyon) "This bridge makes it possible to cross the Kicking Horse Pass, at an altitude of about 1600 m, between Golden, British Columbia and Lake Louise, Alberta." - Canam Bridges

“The section of Trans-Canada Highway that runs from Kamloops, B.C. to the Alberta border is an engineering marvel that winds its way around impressive mountains, across rivers and through many small communities, connecting British Columbia to the rest of the country.” – Expanding the Trans-Canada Highway

Field, British Columbia, Canada

How the Spiral Tunnels work. "An eastbound train leaving Field climbs a moderate hill, goes through two short, straight tunnels on Mt. Stephen, under the Trans-Canada Highway, across the Kicking Horse River and into the Lower Spiral Tunnel in Mt. Ogden. It spirals to the left up inside the mountain for 891 metres (0.6 miles) and emerges 15 metres (50 feet) higher. The train then crosses back over the Kicking Horse River, under the highway a second time and into the 991 metre (0.6 mile) tunnel in Cathedral Mountain. The train spirals to the right, emerging 17 metres (56 feet) higher and continues to the top of Kicking Horse Pass."- Parks Canada

"The Canadian Rockies mountain range spans the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. With jagged, ice-capped peaks, including towering Mt. Robson, it's a region of alpine lakes, diverse wildlife and outdoor recreation sites. Yoho National Park is home to the massive Takakkaw Falls. Other national parks are Jasper, with the famously accessible Athabasca Glacier, and Banff, site of glacier-fed Lake Louise."- Scenic Car Tours

Although we had an Epic Adventure, it was good to be home in Alberta again.
