Chinese festival

Chinese Cultural Center, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

"Open since 1992, the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre is a place for people to explore a unique and fascinating culture. A non-profit organization, the Centre is home to a Chinese library, a cultural museum, a Chinese school, a multi-purpose hall/gymnasium, a gift store and much more. The Centre is open to the public year-round. Admission is free. Classes related to Chinese culture are offered regularly, and frequent exhibitions and events help introduce casual visitors to a culture that dates back almost six thousand years. Construction of this million facility began in May 1991 and was completed in September 1992. Hundreds of volunteers worked countless hours to make building of the Centre possible. An estimated quarter of a million people visit the Center annually."

We have had a lovely summer, dry for the farmers, but nice for hiking, etc. On one such a lovely day, we went to the Chinese festival, which was held in Chinatown.

It was so colorful, many wore make up, some of the ladies in colorful costumes sold paper Carnations for charity and I posed with one of them for photos.

There was a stage with performers doing Tai chi, martial arts, magic, Chinese Opera, etc. There were stalls selling goods, mostly what you get in the Chinese mall.

We went to Eau Claire and Prince’s Island Park afterwards, which is close. It is so relaxing having coffee, watching the children feed the ducks, the buskers etc. We go there often when we have time.
