Christmas Holidays

We have had one of the best Christmas holidays in years. Mr. T. had a few days off. Our son and he's girlfriend came to visit us from St. Johns. We went to Bragg Creek on a lovely sunny day, our dog played in the snow, she jumps up and does somersaults trying to catch the snow.

We saw a lady carrying a 13 week old baby, in the front of her jacket. Afterwards we went to Kananaskis, people were skating on Allen Bill pond, we were so sorry we hadn't brought our skates. Others were sledding on a hill.

A few of us got together Xmas day at some friends house in Cochrane for a lovely dinner. We went a little earlier and took photos in the empty streets of Cochrane of the Saloon, ice cream parlor, etc.

Every family had brought a little gift. The food was great as usual as everyone had brought something different.

We went to Lake Louise on a very cold (minus 23) but sunny day; there was an ice sculpture castle. People were skating; we had brought our skates, but it was to cold for us. We warmed up at a bonfire, even our dog's chest hairs were freezing. We went into the hotel which was beautifully decorated for Xmas. We stayed there for a weekend in November 1998 for a company Xmas party.

Afterwards we went to Banff, we saw some elk in the snow, but they were a bit far. We had lunch at Joe’s diner again, and then we went shopping.

The best was the Christmas shop, which was incredible.

We went to Waterton on another very cold but cloudy (minus 21) day, on the way there we passed by the wind farm and oil derricks. At Waterton it was very windy; the town was mostly shuttered up and closed. We did see some ice climbers, a first for us all.

New Years Eve we all got together again at our house for snacks and to toast in the New Year.
It was very nice having our son and he's girlfriend, but the time was short and we didn't get to do half the stuff we had planned, they had even brought their skates, but it was too cold. There are many indoor rinks but they can do that in St. John’s too. After they had left we had Chinooks and warmer weather of course.
