Our son's girlfriend got us Ouma Rusks L-E-K-K-E-R! Rooibos, dried fruit and other S.A stuff, which she ordered on the Internet and a lovely large glass platter with Xmas cakes and fruit loafs, for Xmas, the platter is part of the gift and super as we have a few already and use them for shells, candles, serving food etc.
On Christmas day a small group of S. A. ’s got together for a “Kers-ete”, everyone brought a dish and a gift for the kids. We were about 16 grown-ups and 6 children; seated around beautiful decorated tables, there was a Santa too. This was also a farewell for our S.A doctor and her in laws, who are moving to Calgary and a welcome for two new South-African families.
The work’s Xmas party was very nice, good food, lovely decorations and good conversation.
On New Year’s eve we had friends over, they brought ham, scalloped potatoes and peas and I made Waldorf salad, mixed vegetables with Alfredo sauce and Asyn-poeding with custard.
