Happy campers.

We spent several days boondocking near  Limestone Mountain in Alberta, Canada, one of our favourite spots. It should be noted that to camp on Alberta Crownland, one presently needs a Public Lands Camping Pass.

Wildies

Some wild horses were grazing near our campsite.

The weather was great we had clear skies, it wasn't too windy, and although it was hot during the day it cooled off in the evenings.

Holy cow!
Cattle Grazing on leased Crown land.

Thankfully, the farmer was able to gather the boisterous bulls, and the cows took their turn after that.

It was nice and cool sitting in the shade by the river.

Erik loved the cold water.

We got plenty of shade from the trees, which helped to keep the camper cooler.

Erik was working hard to mark the boundaries.

To provide warmth and deter flies, we built a fire in the evenings. “The echoes of beauty you've seen transpire, Resound through dying coals of a campfire.”- Ernest Hemingway

We added a Fire Color Changer packet to the fire.

In the evenings, the LED external lighting of the  Jayco Baja comes in quite helpful.

Before it was too hot, Erik and Hubby rode the quad in the mornings.

One day, my husband prepared an amazing beef Potjie.

The Afrikaans word for a three-legged iron pot that is used to cook over a wood fire on our one-burner propane stove is potjie (pronounced “poy-key”). We always bring firewood with us, but the previous campers had left some and we left some as well.
