Erik’s first Camping trip.

We went Boondocking for a few days at one of our favorite places on  the James River, near Sundre, Alberta, Canada. We saw the wild horses of Alberta (WHOA) again, you can read more about them here.

"The James River is a medium-sized river in central Alberta. It is a tributary of the Red Deer River." - Wikipedia

This was Erik's first camping trip, swim in a river, ride on a quad, ride in the back of the truck, etc. but he handled it like a seasoned camper.

In the summertime we span our hammocks over the river, which you can see here.

We heard and saw many birds, geese and ducks also do flyovers.

Our camp.

“One dictionary defines boondocks as slang for rough backwoods or bush country. The term boondocking, also known to RV enthusiast as dispersed camping, dry camping or coyote camping, is used to describe camping in the midst of nature without the use of commercial campgrounds and hookups.” – Boondocking guide.com

Skokijan lying very close to the fire and Erik keeping warm.

Skokijan sleeping by my feet with Erik on his favorite lap.

Erik is a three-month old Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) a.k.a. Blue Heeler, relaxing on hubby's lap.

Erik loves the quad.

Erik also wants to do crafts.

Erik jumping on my lap, while I am trying to work with beads.

Happy dog!

Erik the lap-dog. As you can see the tarps were required because of the rainy weather.

Fortunately there is more than one lap (Erik has BIG feet).

Pork chops and grill basket vegetables on the grill (first time and it was good).

We mixed onions, carrots, mushrooms, tomatoes and celery with olive oil, rock salt, oregano and freshly ground black pepper in a bowl and then grilled them in a grill basket.

My favorite time of day (with a glass of wine that is not in the photo).

The dogs sleeping on their mat.

The boys must sleep sometimes.

Kris (she is getting old now).

Wet dog (he fell into the river)!

Running up!

Are you coming?

Running down the big hill.

Wet and not so cold, but he can take it!

Grilled chicken that tasted really good!

Hubby and Erik on his first "long" quad trip.

Me doing some scrapbook planning.
