New Denver, B.C. Canada.

After we left the Kootenay Lake Ferry at Balfour.
We followed a beautiful winding road along Kootenay Lake via Kaslo to New Denver in British Columbia, Canada.

The road is slow going but beautiful,  a favourite with motorcycles, so allow yourself enough time.

We camped for two nights at Rosebery Provincial Park, near New Denver, in British Columbia, Canada. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the campsite was quiet and well-kept. We have camped there before you can see the post here.

Rosebery Provincial Park is located just north of New Denver, on Highway 6. To the west, across Slocan Lake, is the magnificent Valhalla Provincial Park. Tucked along the banks of Wilson Creek, this park has an intimate, forested creek setting that offers secluded camping for overnight travellers or visitors seeking more adventure.” – B.C. "Beautiful Slocan Lake occupies a scenic portion of British Columbia’s Slocan River Valley. This natural undammed lake is unusual as it has no major rivers running into it. Instead, a number of small streams bring water into the deep and cold 20-mile-long lake which drains to the Slocan River." - Lake Lubbers.

"Nestled between the West Kootenay and Valhalla mountain ranges, a large portion of Slocan Lake’s shoreline has steep slopes rising above it, making development difficult."- Lake Lubbers.

Across Slocan Lake, is the magnificent Valhalla Park.

"Rosebery is a small lakeside community consisting mostly of summer cabins and houses with small acreages owned by retirees seeking a slower way of life, all situated on beautiful Slocan Lake."- Our B.C.

"Because of the quality of the harbour, Roseberry was once a staging ground for the railway barges and steamboats as they were loaded and unloaded from the late 1800s to the early 1900s along Slocan Lake. The facility at Rosebery had a railway roundtable and served as the terminus for the Nakusp & Slocan Railway, receiving ore from nearby Three Forks and Sandon and delivering it to Nakusp and eventually to Revelstoke and the mainline of the Canadian Pacific Railway."-

The Denver visitor’s centre is in an old bank, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We tried to find Upper Halfway Hot Springs, following a steep F.S.R. gravel road,  but we were unsuccessful.
