Sunshine, 29.12.99

We went to ski at "Sunshine Ski Hill". It was our first time there. No discount, very expensive!!! There were thousands of people, with it being warm and holiday. There's a shuttle from the parking lot to the ticket office, it is so big. Gondolas (cable cars like at Table Mountain) take you up the mountain. It is a 20-min ride with two stops, as you make a corner. We saw ice-climbers on a waterfall. We met South African friends there. From there are the lodge buildings, T-bars, chairs, slopes and people in all directions. We saw a toddler with dummy and ski boots. They even have daycare.

I believe it is something like 3 1/2 km to ski from the top down. I was just going to do greens, but following Mr. T. got me into blues and even a Black Diamond, which I did expertly on my bottom. The boys hired snowboards, as our snowboard is the old fashioned type. They very impressed with it. We went right to the top, the view alone is worth it, a bit windy, but you can see clouds below. So we skied about 8k's. I don't think I will be able to move tomorrow.

There is everything from moguls (small bumps), cross- country to wide-wide slopes and lovely soft powder. We saw a guy with he's hair shaved like a Xmas tree and it was coloured green. A woman with a cowboy hat, another with a bear head hat, one with a red wool wig, a boy with a hat full of points, many foreigners (Germans, Dutch, Mexicans, Japanese)
